Credits for the photography shown in our product previews and the services behind BackDrop’s weather and calendar information. The services used depend on the features and calendar context you select.
Photography in product previews
Mountain landscape with mist: photo by yamabon on Pixabay, shown in the home page and display previews.
Snow-covered mountain landscape: photo by cottonbro studio on Pexels, shown in the Awake preview.
Mountain landscape at dusk: photo by Marek Piwnicki on Pexels, shown in the “Your Image” previews and on the Backgrounds, Displays and How It Works pages.
Black and white mountains under white sky: photo on Pexels, shown in the home page’s Prayer and Hijri context preview.
These photographs demonstrate the User Image option. They are shown within product screenshots, with BackDrop information overlaid; they are separate from the twelve built-in month designs.
Original photographs remain credited to their creators. See the Pexels licence and Pixabay Content License summary for the terms that apply to those images.
Weather
Weather data is provided by Apple Weather through WeatherKit. The Weather Service section in BackDrop links to Apple’s weather data attribution after weather loads.
Islamic prayer times and Hijri dates
Prayer times and Hijri calendar data are provided by AlAdhan. Prayer calculations use your selected location and prayer settings. Hijri data supports Islamic calendar context and month-based artwork selection.
Jewish calendar
Jewish calendar data is provided by Hebcal.com, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. BackDrop selects and formats this data for its calendar displays.
Public holidays
When OpenHolidays is selected, public holiday data is provided by OpenHolidays API. Its processed database is available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). See OpenHolidays for the underlying sources and supported countries.
When you select an Apple Calendar instead, BackDrop uses all-day events from that calendar.
Apple Calendar and local calculations
Personal events and selected Apple holiday calendars come from the calendars you choose on your Mac. Christian calendar dates are calculated locally rather than requested from a calendar data provider.
About the previews
Dates, weather readings, prayer times and other information visible in screenshots illustrate the app. They are not live information for your location.
Credits identify the sources used; they do not imply endorsement of BackDrop by a photographer or service provider.
